I know the jpop fanbase is small on here but the silence on the assault on a Japanese idol by 2 men is so worrying. Hating idol culture doesn’t mean you should ignore serious issues like this. If we don’t get this more attention Japanese media will literally ignore it because the group’s management is already making this girl apologize for HERSELF being assaulted in front of the men who assaulted HER. It’s disgusting and it shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Rules for the road when traveling in northern Europe

writing-prompt-s

  1. Memorize your route. Your map can and will lie.
  2. Take the safest roads.
  3. Mountain passes shift between our world and another - do not leave your car when you are crossing a mountain pass.
  4. If you see something you believe to be a bear, do not photograph it.
  5. The snow does strange things to our eyes.
  6. Borders shift.
  7. Do not speak to anyone you meet further than a kilometer from the nearest building.
  8. Not everything that appears to be human is.
  9. You may eat at rest stops but leave as soon as possible. If there are no other guests there, leave immediately.
  10. Don’t listen to birdsongs for too long - they will start to tell you things you’d rather not hear.
  11. There are no shortcuts.
  12. Something is looking at you, but it is indifferent to your existence.
  13. The things beneath the soil would rather stay undisturbed. Don’t dig.
  14. Bring a mirror and a clear head.
  15. Leave all religious items at home. They will make a scent trail.
  16. There is a reason we fear wolves, but it isn’t the one you think.
  17. Do not touch scissors on the ground. Ever.
  18. The wind will bite you. Cover up.
  19. The longer you spend in the woods, the stranger the air gets.
  20. Stay calm.
  21. Never approach old houses.
  22. If there is mist on the ground, do not be afraid.
  23. Windmills are further away than they seem.
  24. Don’t look into lakes.
  25. Some farms don’t always exist. Don’t worry if you can’t find it on your return trip.
  26. Don’t drink slow-running river water. If you do, there will invariably be a dead animal upstream.
  27. Bridges are sacred places. Do not disrespect them.
  28. Avoid wetlands.
  29. There are no children out here, only false ones.
  30. If you suddenly get lost, stay very still.

I WOULD PAY TEN TIMES AS MUCH FOR CHOCOLATE IF IT MEANT REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF SLAVES IN THE WORLD? HOW IS THIS ANY KIND OF PROBLEM.

kaijutegu

good news, you can! the company’s called Tony’s Chocolonely and their entire purpose is to make slave-free chocolate and reform the chocolate industry.

Whole Foods carries it. If you don’t want to support an Amazon-owned company, World Market carries it. You can also buy it directly from the company.

It’s the best chocolate I’ve ever had and it’s 100% slave free. Tony’s Chocolonely works really hard to push for transparency within the chocolate industry and actually has and is following an action plan to eliminate slavery within cocoa production. They’re good people who make good chocolate.

Crazy how the main three chocolate companies in the US are all terrible

…I almost killed myself

I put on my sunglasses, to hide my swollen eyes, over my tears. I cried all my makeup off. Went inside to have a milkshake. I don’t know why. I wanted something to drink as I figured out what I would do. I got a soda and a milkshake. Medium. The cashier looked at me and with a line around the corner of the counter he rushed away from the counter “Hold on “ he yelled to a coworker.

I filled my soda and went back and saw him looking all over. I go up and he gets close and says “I made it a large”.

That was seriously enough for me not to do it. His kindness. Someone went out of their way and as I went back in my car to cry I realized I could muster through a few other days. A few more weeks. Then I came down from that panicky high of anxiety, depression, and pain. I finished my shake. And it was enough time to let me feel better. I… I’m alive. I’ll make it through.

Try and be nice today. Tomorrow. Something as much as a smile. It helped so much.

Thank you man at McDonalds.

The milkshake saved my life

I hope you all can read this and remember to be kind

The smallest of gestures can save a life. My Mum answered her phone when I called and I am alive today because of that.

badsciencejokes

I’m glad you’re here.

It’s a phone call, a milkshake, a friend.

I feel like I shouldn’t keep reblogging this but when I do more people see what kindness can do…. I don’t know. Love everyone as yourself.

nunyabizni

Nah, keep rebloging it. It gives hope.

walked sobbing around a city once wearing a summer dress in mid-september thunder and rain. basically dragged myself into LUSH as the smell of the store always made me smile. the shop was empty and dead due to the weather, just this blonde short woman behind the counter who smiled at me. i stared at her feet and asked ‘do you have anything for people who are scared a lot?’ (i was so out of it i had no clue). she showed me two bath bombs, one pink and one blue, and said both were good - i chose the pink, paid for it and left. i then sat at a bus stop clutching the LUSH bag in one arm and my prescription meds in the other - i’d lied and ordered a refill so i could just drift away with sleeping pills. when the bus arrived and i was out of the rain, i decided to have another look at my bath bomb, smell it and what not. opened my bag and saw she’d put the blue one in there for me as well and written on the receipt ‘feel better soon :) hope you like x’.

no one had ever been so selflessly kind to me before, i didn’t know what to do with it except hang around long enough to use the other bath bomb.

maggie-stiefvater

Actually I’m going to reblog this again because of the truth of the inverse: think of any time you have been casually cruel or petty to someone for humor or because you weren’t in a great mood.

The power of small gestures goes both ways.

seriously though bisexuality being defined as attraction to men and women is a heterosexual’s definition of bisexuality actual bisexual groups and organizations have been defining it as attraction to two or more genders or same and other genders since the nineties and plenty of nb people actually id as bi and refusing to accept how we define ourselves is so absurdly biphobic and heterosexist and jfc it’s 2014 can other queer people fucking realize and acknowledge this

qwertybard

The purple stripe on the bi flag is meant to represent attraction to nb genders and the bisexual manifesto published in Anything That Moves includes the lines “Do not assume that bisexuality is binary or duogamous in nature … In fact, don’t assume that there are only two genders.” That was published in 1990. It’s older than a lot of people here, including me, and older than terms like “pansexual” and “polysexual” by at least a decade. Bi history is important.

scribblemoose

‘Bisexual’ meant ‘all genders and none’ back in the 1970s when I came out. It’s important to remember that. Maybe the word isn’t quite right now, but the meaning behind it, in my experience, always has been.

grednforgesgirl

It’s 2018 and there are still people who think bisexual is transphobic. This post was written four years ago and is still relevant.
